Rosario Central qualifies for Copa Santa Fe quarterfinals
Rosario Central defeated Argentino in a penalty shootout and qualified for the Copa Santa Fe 2026 quarterfinals. The Canalla will face Los Andes de Alcorta in the next round.
The match
The match was dominated by the Reserva Canalla, but the Sala scored the opening goal when the debutant Báez crossed the ball from the left side, and Juan Bautista Cantiani headed it in at the 37th minute of the first half, marking his debut goal in the Albo.
The equalizer
In the second half, the Canalla equalized through a beautiful assist by Moreno, who played the ball with his left foot, and Valentino Felici scored the equalizer at the second post, securing a 1-1 draw.
The penalty shootout
At the 47th minute, Moreno was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving the opposing team with a man advantage. The match ended with no further goals, and the classification was decided by a penalty shootout. Central scored all five penalties (Bustos, Ferraris, Vicente, Felici, and Guzmán), while the Sala scored two (Canteros and Andrada) and Bartalini missed his penalty due to a save by the goalkeeper Sosa.

The other representatives from Rosario will play on Wednesday. Newell’s will visit Leones FC on Wednesday, July 29, at 7 PM in Arroyo Seco, while Central Córdoba will face Timbuense on the same day but at 8 PM in Timbúes. The winners of both matches will face each other in the quarterfinals.
